Apparatus (16) for use in an arrangement for measuring the relative position of two bones (10,12) during surgery includes a clamp (24) and a measurement arm (26). The clamp (24) is adapted to engage and be secured to an anchor (18) in a fixed vertical position, the anchor (18) being secured to a first bone location. The measurement arm (26) comprises an elongate portion (96) and a locator portion (98) that extends angularly from the elongate portion (96). The measurement arm (26) is slidably supported on the clamp (24). The measurement arm (26) is further rotatably supported on the clamp (24) at a position in which an axis of rotation of the measurement arm (26) is spaced apart from a longitudinal axis of the anchor (18).
