PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a vinylidene chloride-based resin, scarcely forming odd-shaped particles. SOLUTION: This method for producing the vinylidene chloride-based resin comprises subjecting vinylidene chloride to suspension polymerization, wherein such a methyl cellulose that contains a 1,2-dichloroethane-soluble component in an amount of 0.1-2.0 wt.% is used as a suspending agent for the suspension polymerization.
