PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of production for a polymer including an amphiphatic monomer having high gas-hydrate formation controlling function. SOLUTION: This method of production for the polymer uses the amphiphatic monomer such as N-isopropyl methacrylamide or the like, 1,1'- azobis(cyclohexane-1-carbonitrile) as a polymerization initiator and a nonionic chain transfer agent such as 3-mercapto-1,2-propanediol or the like. A gas- hydrate formation-controlling agent includes the polymer obtained in the process. Further, the gas-hydrate formation controlling method using the polymer obtained in the above method is also provided.
