PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which produces reaction gas to be a raw material of an optical fiber preform to an optical fiber preform manufacturing device at the time of manufacturing the optical fiber. SOLUTION: Chlorine gas is supplied to a lower section (1A) under a pedestal of a reaction furnace through a gaseous matter feed tube (5), transferred to the upper side of the pedestal through a vent hole and reacted with a reaction member (X) placed invertedly on the pedestal, thereby reaction gas is produced. The reaction gas is led to the optical fiber preform manufacturing device, etc., through a transfer tube (6) connected with a lid member (12) of the reaction furnace (1).
