PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque wrench which can correctly and easily tighten a screw to a predetermined tightening force by the manual tightening after rapidly tightening the screw until it is seated by the motor drive. SOLUTION: A front end part of a sheath-like tubular body 8 is turnably connected to a head part 4 with an output shaft 3 rotatably disposed thereon, a first half part of a hollow handle 1 is inserted in the sheath-like tubular body 8, a front end thereof is connected to the sheath-like tubular body 8 turnably in the right-and-left direction, the rotation of an air motor 2 built in a rear end grip part 1a of the hollow handle 1 is transmitted to the output shaft 3 via a transmission shaft 5 in the hollow handle 1, and the output shaft 3 is turned to tighten the screw. When the screw is tightened by hand, the hollow handle 1 is turned in the tightening direction, and the screw is tightened via the engagement force of first and second projection bodies 9a and 9b protruded from surfaces facing a sliding body 13 pressed forward by the sheath-like tubular body 8 and a spring.
