Providing a process for removing bromide from water. Process for removing bromide from water comprises oxidizing the bromide to bromine, adding an organic compound to react with the bromine, and removing the reaction product from the water. An Independent claim is also included for apparatus for carrying out the process, comprising a device for adding an oxidizing agent, a device (5) for adding the organic compound, a reaction chamber (2), and a device (3) for removing the reaction product.
