PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser-induced thermal recording element containing an IR pigment exhibiting improved stability. SOLUTION: The laser-induced thermal recording element comprises a coloring agent layer containing a coloring agent dispersed in a polymer binder on a support. In this element, the coloring agent layer contains a laser beam absorbable pigment for absorbing the laser in the wavelength used to expose the element in relation, and the laser beam absorbable pigment contains a polymethine pigment having a covalent bonded phenylenediamine part.
