PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable gradational recording by setting two heating units capable of driving independently, correspondingly to one discharge opening, driving each heating unit independently or cooperatively in accordance with image information and changing a mass of liquid droplets to be discharged from the discharge opening. SOLUTION: There is provided a means for introducing a recording liquid to liquid chambers. The introduced recording liquid is heated by heat energy working parts 111 and 112 to generate bubbles and discharged as liquid droplets from discharge openings by a working force in consequence of a volume increase of the bubbles. The heat energy working parts are comprised of two heating units 111 and 112 capable of driving independently, and the heating units have control electrodes 71 and 72 and a common electrode 8 connected thereto. These electrodes extend into an opposite direction to the side where the heating units are formed on a silicon substrate, and end parts of the electrodes are formed not to coincide. |
