PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stacked type heat exchanger capable of minimizing a longitudinal size of a header tank without causing cost up. SOLUTION: The stacked type heat exchanger has a plurality of caulking pawls 142 to be caulked on the outer peripheral wall of the header tank 120 and caps for closing openings 123 at the longitudinal ends 122 of the header tank 120. In this heat exchanger, through-holes 113a for passage of the pawls 142 are formed in side plates 113 at positions corresponding to the pawls 142, and the header tank 120 is positioned such that each longitudinal end 122 is set between an opening side end 113b and a bottom 113c on the opposite side to the opening of a U-shaped cross section of the side plate 113. The caulking pawls 142 are inserted through the holes 113a so that the cap 140 closes the opening 123 of the header tank 120.
