PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve maintainability of a transmission, compact the transmission by effectively utilizing space and arrange members properly in the transmission for an internal combustion engine having a crank shaft provided in parallel with an advancing direction of a vehicle body and including a selecting mechanism of forward gears and reverse gears. SOLUTION: Supply sources of hydraulic fluid and lubricating oil for an automatic transmission are concentratedly arranged in a front crank case cover side, the selecting mechanism of forward gears and reverse gears is provided between a rear crank case and a rear crank case cover, a forward and reverse selecting shift drum is arranged above a line connecting a main shaft and a counter shaft.
