PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an error type reporting technique using but a single display lamp, easy for the user to comprehend the report and to describe the error orally. SOLUTION: A display lamp is lighted in the 1st display mode when there is an error upon turning-on of an operation start switch, and the mode is switched over to the 2nd display mode after the passage of a specified time length, and the time length is selected according to the error type. This makes it easy for the user to identify the error type and to describe the error. Upon the turning-on of the operation start switch, it is determined whether there is an error or not. Operation is started when there is no error but, if any in presence, operation is not started and the error is displayed. This provides a home appliance easy for the user to understand.
