<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a cleaning device whose cleaning performance is improved by using a cleaning auxiliary means capable of efficiently scraping spherical toner 21 adhering to a soft intermediate transfer member without increasing the abutting pressure of a cleaning blade 19 in the case of removing toner left after transfer on an image carrier such as a belt type intermediate transfer member 4. SOLUTION: By externally adding and mixing a cleaning assistant 22 in the toner left after transfer 21 by a mixing ratio of 10 to 40 mass %, and supplying the resultant mixture to the abutting part of the cleaning blade 19 on the intermediate transfer member 4, the cleaning assistant 22 is accumulated in a layer state at the edge part of the blade, so that the spherical toner can be scraped and removed without increasing abutting pressure.</p> |
