PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized mechanical optical switch with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: One end parts of optical fibers 1 have end faces trued up and are fixed on the way in the lengthwise direction of a plurality of V grooves 4 formed in parallel on the upper face of a support base 3. One end part of an optical fiber 2 is supported by a shake lever 5 which is axially supported by a support shaft 6 having the axial direction in the lengthwise direction of the V grooves 4 so as to be shaken in the arrangement direction of the V grooves 4 and is supported in a position higher than one end parts of the optical fibers 1 in the waiting state so as to face the one end parts. A solenoid 8 is driven to press the optical fiber to one V groove 4 by a hammer 7 after the lever 5 is shaken through a gear array 11 by driving of a motor 10 in the waiting state to move the optical fiber 2 in the arrangement direction to a position where the optical fiber 2 just faces the V groove 4, and thus the end face of the optical fiber 2 is selectively butted against the end face of one optical fiber 1 to switch and connect optical paths of optical fibers. |
