PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermo-mechanical analyzer with high resolution and a wide dynamic range for measuring a displacement length. SOLUTION: A sample 10 is set on a sample table 7, a detecting rod 5 is brought into contact with the sample 10 from an upper side by rotating a ball spring 12a using a motor 12d, and lowering a frame 3a fixed with a system suspension spring 1 and a magnet 3. An electric current is made to flow in a force coil 2, a compression or tension load is impressed onto the sample 10 via the rod 5 by interaction with the magnet 3, and a temperature of the sample 10 is changed at a fixed speed by a heating furnace 8 and a temperature sensor 9. A phase difference (time) between an alternating current-excited signal of an excitation coil 22 inside a detecting part 20a of a long length and a secondary signal output induced electromagnetically inside a detection coil 22a in response t6 vertical motion of a ferromagnetic material 21 is detected at that time to be converted into a displacement signal by a conversion circuit 25.
