PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a float type liquid level detector supporting the tubular stem, of which the root part is fixed to the inside of a float cap, in a float so as to hold both ends thereof by certainly fixing the leading end of the stem to the center part of the bottom surface of a float main body, capable of holding the accuracy of the ON/OFF action of an electric on-off mechanism without generating lateral shaking or positional shift and also excellent in assembling workability. SOLUTION: A magnet 2b and a slide weight 19 supporting the magnet 2b are mounted on the outer periphery of the tubular stem 11 having a lead switch 2a mounted therein and fixed to the float cap 1b at its root part and an elastic contact bonding plate 21 is attached to the leading end of the tubular stem 11. The elastic contact bonding plate 21 attached to the leading end of the tubular stem 11 is brought into contact with the center part of the bottom surface of the float main body 1a under pressure at the time of connection of the float main body 1a and the float cap 1b to support the tubular stem 11 in the float 1 so as to hold both ends of the tubular stem 11.
