PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the lifetime of an ironing die used in the case of manufacturing a battery can by a DI process. SOLUTION: As an ironing die material, cemented carbides having a hardness of 2,300 HV 0.1 or more and a Young's modulus of 580 GPa or more are adopted. Further, the cemented carbides are covered with a Ti (C, N) film by a CVD method to manufacture the ironing die.
