PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper and lower divided type jointing device for metal hollow square columns capable of corresponding to the change in front to rear width or right to left width of the applicable hollow square columns by using a jointing member, which creates no bulkiness, offers excellent handling and decreases a carrying and storing space. SOLUTION: In the jointing device which joints together the column members 11 and 12 divided into upper and lower parts of the metal hollow square column 10 through a jointing frame 1A to a butted state, the jointing frame 1A comprises a pair of frame members 2A and 2A each bent and formed from one sheet metal and overlapped with rear surfaces 3b and 3b, each frame member 2A is extended from both the right and left sides of base plate portion to the front surface 3a side at the side plate portions 4 and 4 in aΛ-shape and is equipped with a column attaching piece 5 formed by cutting and raising to the front surface side, a half portion of the jointing frame 1A is inserted and fitted to an end surface opening portion 12a, the column attaching piece 5 is linked to an opening end edge 12b of a column member 12, and the remaining half portion of this jointing frame 1A is inserted and fitted to an end surface opening portion 11a of the other column member 11.
