PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electric discharge machining capable of efficiently forming a grillwork groove on a mold surface a surface shape of which is solid. SOLUTION: This electrode for electric discharge machining is furnished with an electrode 4 in which a plurality of comb-like plates 2, 3 are engaged with each other with their comb tooth parts 21, 31 and a back part 22 of the plate 2 and the comb tooth part 31 of the plate 3 are assembled in a grillwork- shape. The back part 22 and the comb tooth part 31 are machined and formed in a specified three-dimensional shape on an electric discharge part 40 of the electrode 4.
