<p>The present invention relates to a process for producing packaging materials exhibiting antimicrobial properties wherein the packaging materials containing at least one group of amino, carboxylic, aldehyde and isocyanide group are brought into contact with at least one antimicrobial agent containing each at least one group being selected from the group comprising carboxylic, amino or aldehyde groups whereby at least one such group of at least one antimicrobial agent reacts with at least one group being selected from the group comprising carboxylic, amino, aldehyde and isocyanide groups present on the surface of the packaging material in the presence of substances containing at least one group being selected from the group comprising amino, carboxylic, aldehyde and isocyanide groups that is absent on the packaging material surface to thereby retaining the antimicrobial agent on the packaging material surface.</p> |
