PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a rare earth sintered magnet by which a magnet in which the degree of orientation on compacting in the magnetic field can be improved without damaging its pulverization capacity, and which has practically sufficient coercive force and high residual magnetization can be obtained. SOLUTION: The method of producing a rare earth sintered magnet contains a stage where working gas containing main pulverization gas and assistant eddy current formation gas is injected on an alloy expressed by the formula of Rx (Fe1-a Coa )y Bz Tb (R is at least one kind selected from rare earth metals inclusive of Y; and T is a transition metal other than Fe and Co. By atomic %, x, y, z, and b satisfy 11<=x<=16, 70<=y<=85, 4<=z<=9, and 0<=b<=4, and, a is the ratio of Fe to Co, and satisfies 0<=a<=0.2) by a counter jet mill having a pulverization gas nozzle and an eddy current formation nozzle, and the alloy is made into fine powder having a mean grain diameter of 1 to 20 μm, a stage where the fine powder is compacted in the magnetic field, a stage where the compact is sintered, and a stage where the sintered compact is heat-treated. |
