PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately measure and read a draught mark and a ship from on-board. SOLUTION: An upper wheel 11 and a lower wheel 13 formed by magnet rollers are mounted to a rectangular frame-like detection device body 3. A transparent water-introduction case 5 forming a flat plate container is mounted to the detection device body 3 and a lengthy rod-like floater 4 is assembled into this water-introduction case 5. Sea water is introduced into the water- introduction case 5 from the deep underwater through a water-introduction pipe 15. A reflection mirror is vertically pivotally mounted to the detection device body 3. The detection device body 3 is hung down from on-board along the draught mark 8 at an outer surface of the ship body using a string body 2. An angle of the reflection mirror 6 is adjusted on board using a string body 23 for adjusting an angle. A value of the draught mark 8 at a position where the floating element 4 is stopped is measured and read from on-board through the reflection mirror 6.
