Power control during soft handover of mobile

A power control method during a soft handoff in a cellular communication system. A mobile station communicating with a plurality of base stations at a soft handoff measures the signal strengths of forward common pilot channels received from the base stations and transmit them to the base stations in respective assigned time slots, sequentially. Then the base stations control the transmission power of forward common power control channels according to the received signal strength measurements.
