PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aliphatic polyester macromonomer having amino group or thioalcolate group in its terminal, a graft copolymer having an aliphatic polyester chain having the amino group or thioalcolate group in its terminal as a graft chain, and a method for synthesizing them. SOLUTION: This macromonomer has a polymerizable double bond in one of the terminals of an aliphatic polyester and a reactive functional group with the other compound at another terminal and is expressed by the general formula (1), and the graft copolymer having the aliphatic polyester as the side chain, and having a functional group reactive with the other compound in the terminal of the side chain and containing reoccurring units expressed by the general formulae (2) and (3) [wherein, R<1> is a hydrocarbon group or an organic group not inactivating an alcolate anion; R<2> is a hydrocarbon group; R<3> , R<4> are each a hydrocarbon group or an organic group not inactivating the alcolate anion, and R<4> may not exist; X<1> is the amino or thioalcolate group expressed by the general formula (4) (wherein, R<5> to R<7> are each a hydrocarbon group); and (m) is an integer].
