PURPOSE: A fishing reel having handle assembly capable of being selectively mounted to both sides thereof is provided to maintain a winding direction and an unwinding direction of a fishing line of a spool against a housing regardless that a user is a left-hander or a right-hander. CONSTITUTION: The fishing reel(10) having handle assembly(300) having combined use of right and left comprises a housing having a hub in the center, a spool(600) having a winding drum around which a fishing line is wounded, a protecting cover(316) connected on an end of the housing(100), and a handle assembly connected on the other end of the housing. Both ends of the housing respectively have respective pairs of holes, warm gears and warm shafts which are connected with the warm gear(105,107). A spool gear(209) is mounted on the handle assembly. A controlling nob is mounted on the protecting cover, wherein, a plurality of pairs of connecting holes are provided on the protecting cover for connection with the housing. A ratchet assembly(205), a winding nob(311) and a drag nob(320) are mounted on the handle assembly.
