摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning device in which the quantity of laser beams to be radiated for scan can be more rightly measured while reducing the cost by relaxing the limitation in environmental stability such as temperature dependency of a laser light source and temperature stability of an optical component to be used and the limitation in the accuracy of position and direction to attach the optical component to be used, and an apparatus and a method for forming image by using such an optical scanning device. SOLUTION: This optical scanning device has a light source part 1 for emitting beams, a beam splitting means 3 for splitting the beams of a prescribed ratio in the emitted beams, a photodiode 11 for receiving the beams split by the beam splitting means and an emitted light quantity detecting means 12 for detecting the quantity of emitted light from the light source part by using the output of the photodiode and scans the surface of a recording medium with the emitted beams. On the beam receiving side of the photodiode, a light diffusing part 14 is provided for diffusing beams. Besides, a film F is irradiated with the downward beams from the optical scanning device.
