1-Methylsulphonyl-3-oxa-5-methoxy-6-acetoxy mercuri hexane The organomercury cpds. has biocidal esp antibacterial and germicidal properties. It is prepared by reacting methylvinylsulphone with allyl alcohol in the presence of base to form methylsulphonyl 2-alkyloxy ethane which is then reacted with Hg(Ac)2 and MeOH in the presence of H.Ac. Specif. it is used for treating water in industrial plants.
