PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for initially matching the movement phase of a shedding frame to the phase of a motor in a loom shedding motion, by which the accuracy of the phase matching can be improved and, if necessary, a series of operations can be automatized. SOLUTION: This method for initially matching the movement phase of the shedding frame to the phase of the motor in the loom shedding motion driven with the motor synchronously with the rotation of the main shaft of the loom comprises first rotating the motor to operate the shedding motion, monitoring the displacement of the shedding frame with a position sensor attached to a position corresponding to the displacement of the shedding frame to detect a position where the displacement of the shedding motion on the basis of the rotation of the motor is maximized in the shedding movement phase of the shedding frame, and memorizing as a starting point phase the phase of the motor at the position where the displacement of the shedding motion on the basis of the rotation of the motor is maximized.
