PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that prevents image failure such as a wrinkle in paper. SOLUTION: The fixing device transports a transfer material with an unfixed image thereon through a pressure contact area defined by a pair of fixing rotary bodies disposed rotatably at least in pressure-contact with each other and thereby fixes the unfixed image on the transfer material under heat. The fixing device uses oil as a releasing agent. In the fixing device, the coefficientμof friction between the fixing rotary bodies and the transfer material is set to 4.5 or below.
