EACH METHOD FOR PRODUCING GLASS, GLASS SUBSTRATE BLANKS AND GLASS SUBSTRATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing glass suitable for making a glass substrate required to be high quality for information recording media, and a method for producing glass substrate blanks using the obtained glass, and a method for producing the glass substrate using the obtained glass. SOLUTION: When a source material for glass is fused in a glass fusing apparatus and the glass which contains an alkali metal element is produced, the material used for the glass fusing apparatus which contact with a glass part contains zirconium but does not practically contain the alkali metal element. The glass substrate blanks are produced by press-forming or float-forming of the obtained glass. The glass substrate is produced by grinding or polishing work on the obtained glass substrate blanks.
