PURPOSE: A color cathode ray tube is provided to improve the drop performance of the cathode ray tube by increasing the change rate of a vertical pitch in shadow mask slots. CONSTITUTION: In slots(11) of a shadow mask(5) for a transposed scan cathode ray tube, the change rate of a vertical pitch is more than that of a horizontal pitch. This is expressed in an equation as follows: absolute value((Pho-Phc)/Phc)<£(Pvo-Pvc)/Pvc|, where the Pvc is a vertical pitch between the slots in the center part of the shadow mask, the Pvo is a vertical pitch between the slots in a corner part, the Phc is a horizontal pitch between the slots in the center part, and the Pho is a horizontal pitch between the shots in the corner part.
