PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multipurpose paddy water control automatic system which automatically controls the water level of a paddy to save labors, prepares pattern models having different targets, respectively, to suitably control the paddy in response to various conditions such as the demands of a paddy manager, the kind of rice, growing environments such as weather and soil, and thereby gives good quality rice in a high yield. SOLUTION: The water level set value of a paddy is preliminarily incorporated into a control program as a pattern model. The pattern model is determined on the basis of prescribed growth control targets such as high yield, good taste, and high quality. A plurality of pattern models having different growth control targets, respectively, are prepared. A program selected from the pattern models is incorporated into the control program, or the pattern models preliminarily selectable are incorporated into the control program. The control program controls the water supply or drain to the rice paddy to automatically control the water level of the rice paddy along the prescribed pattern model.
