PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain (a) fast travel speed with good traveling stability, (b) easiness in moving by a wheelchair, (c) easiness in getting on and off without needing an assisting person, and (d) a reduction of an installation area. SOLUTION: This vehicle for the wheelchair is provided with a main frame formed in approximately U-shape from the top view by connecting the front parts of a lateral pair of side frames 12a by a front frame 12b; an approximately portal roll bar 18 rising upward from the rear part of the mainframe and connecting the rear parts of both side frames; a cockpit 64 liftable between both side frames and having at least a floor plate opened backward; a lifting mechanism 78 for lifting the cockpit while keeping the floor plate almost horizontal; a cockpit lock mechanism 84 for locking the cockpit in the lifted position; steering front wheels 26 and a front wheel drive mechanism disposed at the front part of the main frame; a lateral pair of rear wheels 30 held to the rear parts of both side frames; and control elements 44, 52 mounted to the main frame. |
