PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic adjusting method for an endoscope system by which the adjustment for a white balance and the light modulation can be performed without using adjusting tools. SOLUTION: This endoscope system has a storing means to store a set value for a light volume by the lamp current of a light source lamp and a diaphragm. The endoscope system is equipped with an endoscope device which obtains a subject image by the illumination light being projected from the light source lamp 27 to a subject. Then, this automatic adjusting method for such an endoscope system comprises a white balance-adjusting process, a diaphragm light volume-adjusting process, and a storing process. In this case, in the white balance-adjusting process, the wave length regions of R, G, and B of the illumination light which is reflected from the subject are compared with each other for respective wave length regions, and the lamp current of the light source lamp 27 is adjusted and set. In the diaphragm light volume-adjusting process, the diaphragm 30 which controls the light volume being projected to the subject from the light source lamp 27 is adjusted and set. In the storing process, the white balance, the lamp current which is adjusted and set in the diaphragm light volume-adjusting process, and a diaphragm value are respectively stored in the storing means.
