PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nipping mechanism capable of eliminating the problem that conventional nipping mechanisms have each a steel sliding shaft inserted into a pipe and so has a sliding shaft slid by thickness of culm when nipping the culm but requiring lubrication, or the like, due to work degradation caused by wear after long application. SOLUTION: A culm transporting device 28 is obtained by oppositely setting a feed chain 23 and a nipping lever 40 and has a mechanism supporting the device on the machine body side through sliding members 42 and elastic elements 48 in the right-angled direction of the nipping lever 40, wherein a bush 44b is externally fitted to a sliding shaft 44a constituting the sliding member 42 and the sliding member 42 is supported on a bearing pipe 46.
