PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus which allow good observation of the inner wall of the body cavity by indwelling a capsule endoscope in the body cavity. SOLUTION: The endoscope apparatus 2 comprises an imaging unit 5, an illuminator 6 provided at the distal end of a capsule container 25, an expandable and contractible balloon 7 provided on the rear side face to communicate with an inlet 9 provided at the rear end via a fluid duct 10, and a needle-shaped slender part 11 at the distal end of a tube 3, pierced into a rubber plug 15 mounted in the inlet 9. Thus, the fluid is supplied from a syringe of the rear end side of the tube 3 to expand the balloon 7, and the balloon 7 abuts on the inner wall of the body cavity, then the tube 3 is drawn to indwell the capsule endoscope 2 side in the body cavity so that the body cavity can be observed.
