METHOD FOR PRODUCING TISSUE EQUIVALENT FOR TRANSPLANTATION AND INSTRUMENT FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out cell growth on approximately the whole circumference or approximately the whole area of a cell culture carrier. SOLUTION: A cartilage cell-containing cell suspension is mixed with (embedded in) 3% of atelo-collagen implant in the ratio of 1:4, mounted in a doom state on a membrane filter 14 of a bottomed cylinder 10, the mounted mixed solution is gelled to give a cell culture carrier 2 in which the cell is embedded. Successively a liquid medium 4 is injected into a culture container 20 and the membrane filter 14 and the cell culture carrier 2 are immersed in the liquid medium 4. Then, culture is carried out under fixed conditions for three weeks. During the culture period, the liquid medium 4 is stirred by a stirrer 24. After the embedding culture for three weeks, a tissue equivalent 6 for transplantation having a formed cell layer on approximately the whole circumference is obtained.
