PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope in which the curved part may not be destroyed by releasing a force by a curving means even if an abnormal force is applied to a curved part in a non-curving direction. SOLUTION: The endoscope 1 comprises an operating unit, an inserting unit 3 connected to the operating unit, and the curved part 8 curvable in one plane at the distal end side of the unit 3. The endoscope 1 further comprises a conversion piece 18 provided as the bending means bendable in at least a direction perpendicular to the curving direction at the operating unit side of the curved part 8.
