PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique to improve the activity of a shift reaction. SOLUTION: Following shift catalyst is used. The shift catalyst has a catalytic substance consisting of an active seed having the activity to promote the shift reaction and an auxiliary component having a function to hold the active seed, and further has a water vapor adsorbing substance which can adsorb water vapor. By using the above shift catalyst, water vapor in the gas supplied to the shift reaction is withdrawn to the water vapor adsorbing substance to increase the concentration of water vapor near the active seed, which further promotes the shift reaction. Thus, the activity of the shift reaction can be improved. |
