PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system wherein an expensive endoscope body side is prevented from being damaged even when an excessive impulse is applied from the restricted location for the turning operation wherein a relative location between a light source unit and an operating unit of the endoscope is changed. SOLUTION: This endoscope system is equipped with a rotation-restricting section 34e. In this case, the rotation-restricting section 34e restricts a relative turning final end location to the operating unit 6 of a battery type light source 4 when abutting against a tongue piece 27a which is positioned by the operating unit 6 of the endoscope body, when the battery type light source 4 is connected with the operating unit 6 of the endoscope body. Then, the mechanical strength of a member which forms at least one of the tongue piece 27a and the rotation- restricting section 34e is made smaller than the connecting strength to connect the battery type light source 4 with the operating unit 6.
