PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method for cleaning a chemical pollutant using hydrogen peroxide, which is capable of enhancing the reaction efficiency of hydrogen peroxide and which is advantageous in safety of workers and further is capable of treating the same under weak acid. SOLUTION: For the cleaning treatment of the chemical pollutant polluted with a chemical substance such as an organic halogen compound by adding hydrogen peroxide, the method is characterized by adding at least one compound selected from phosphoric acid and a phosphate to the chemical pollutant prior to or at the same time of addition of hydrogen peroxide to the chemical pollutant. A metal catalyst such as a metallic iron and the like is added, if desired.
