SUBSTANCE: moving pictures expert group (MPEG) decoder depending for its operation on recompressed-data interleaving operations executed concurrently with other processing operations in high-definition television set functions to decode and deblock data encoded in compliance with MPEG to obtain unpacked blocks of pixels and has movement correction circuit coupled with frame memory to produce finally decoded pixels for display. Unpacked data are compressed again by plurality of parallel recompression devices before they are entered in frame memory; each recompression device is supplied with interleaving pixel data stream, executes prediction, and compresses interleaving values of pixels during each respective time step.
