FIELD: manufacture or repair of book. SUBSTANCE: a book in a binding has an interfastened book block, binding cover made in the form of two side plates and rootlet, and a flexible U-shaped guide, which envelops across from the external side in a spaced relation the rootlet of the binding cover. Each of the two branches of the guide on its side is passed through the cover material in a rib formed between the side plate and the rootlet of the binding cover, and fastened directly to the binding cover. Each of the two-branches of the flexible U-shaped guide is glued in the split made in the mass of the side plate of the binding cover on the side of its end cut facing the rib and oriented along the plane of the side plate surface.
