PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the leakage of magnetic flux at the rear side of a sub- magnetic pole layer and to improve the characteristics of a write part. SOLUTION: In a thin film magnetic head having the write part in which the sub-magnetic pole layer 20 is disposed opposite a lower magnetic pole layer 10, sandwiching a gap layer 22, and in which an upper magnetic pole layer 18 is connected to the rear part of the sub-magnetic pole layer 20, a heaped layer 24 consisting of an insulating layer which is sandwiched between the sub-magnetic pole layer 20 and the lower magnetic pole layer 10 at the rear side of the gap layer 22 is provided, and a slope part 24a which gradually descends is provided so as to be extending from the heaped layer 24 toward the gap layer 22. |
