PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the increase of impact resistance and the reduction of vibration in the head positioning operation in a magnetic disk device. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a magnetic disk 31 for recording information, an actuator 40 for driving a recording/reproducing head, a base 10 integrally forming a thick shroud part 10a surrounding the magnetic disk 31 in the circular-arcuate state and a base bottom part 10b for supporting the actuator 40, and a spindle motor 21 provided with a motor main body 21a mounting the magnetic disk 31 thereon and a metallic motor flange 21b formed at one side of this motor main body 21a. Then, the motor flange 21b is extended to the outside from the inside diameter of the shroud part 10a and joined to the shroud part 10a.
