PURPOSE: A method for measuring a transmission distance of a multi-mode optical fiber in a gigabit Ethernet system is provided to analyze transmission characteristics of the multi-mode optical fiber connected to a gigabit Ethernet meter, so as to directly measure the transmission distance of the multi-mode optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: Measuring meters are prepared, and an optical signal is transmitted(S21). Whether a CRC(Cyclic Redundancy Check) error indicating an information loss occurs is checked through a meter and a computer(S22). If not, the steps are ended, and if occurs, a multi-mode optical fiber is diminished by predetermined length(S27) and whether a CRC error occurs is repeatedly checked. Also, if an CRC error is generated in the step S22, whether the error is caused by the inferiority of an optical connector is checked by using an optical power meter(S24,S25). If so, the optical connector is repaired(S26) and the multi-mode optical fiber is diminished by predetermined length(S27). |
