PURPOSE: A method for treating a carbon electrode structure is provided to accomplish adequate wetting of an electrode used in a direct liquid fuel supply type fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: The method for treating a carbon electrode structure for a liquid fuel supply type fuel cell, which is composed of carbon particles supported by a binder, comprises the steps of: dipping the carbon electrode structure in a bath containing a liquid perfluorosulfonate polymer; and removing the carbon electrode structure from the bath and then drying it. Particularly, the liquid perfluorosulfonate polymer is 1% solution of tetrafluoroethylene/perfluorovinylether sulfonate copolymer, wherein the polymer is dispersed in methanol.
