PURPOSE: A device for opening a gap between segments in continuous casting facility is provided to extract cast slab promptly and safely without congestion of the cast slab between casting rolls when casting operating is stopped due to abnormality of hydraulic system in continuous casting process. CONSTITUTION: In a facility for continuously casting cast slab forcibly drawn out from a mold by continuously arranging a plural segments comprising upper and lower frames on oppositely directed corresponding surfaces of which casting rolls are installed and clamping cylinders for generating roll force to reduce a gap between the casting rolls by descending the upper frames for the fixed lower frames, the device for opening a gap between the segments in continuous casting facility comprises a cylinder housing(11) which is removably installed on the lower frame, and into which the rod front end of the clamping cylinders connected to the upper frames is penetrated; a plunger(15) vertically movably assembled into the cylinder housing(11); and a spring member(17) installed inside the cylinder housing(11) to elastically support the plunger(15) upward in order to open a gap between the casting rolls when something is wrong with the hydraulic system.
