PURPOSE: A driving apparatus of an LCD is provided to enhance the visibility the LCD by performing a gamma correction process according to the luminance of the surrounding environment. CONSTITUTION: A data driving portion(3) supplies a gray voltage to a data line according to a data signal and drops values of voltages transmitted to each pixel within an LCD panel(1) line by line. A scan driving portion(2) supplies a gate voltage to a gate line in order to transmit the data from the data driving portion(3) to the pixels. A timing control portion(5) generates digital signals in order to drive the data driving portion(3) and the scan driving portion(2). A gray voltage generation portion(6) generates gray voltages and supplies the generated gray voltages to the data driving portion(3). Each level of the gray voltages is changed according to the peripheral luminance.
