PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectrum/color reproduction system which can reproduce the spectrum or color of a color image inputted by a color image input means more faithfully. SOLUTION: The spectrum/color reproduction system includes a multiband camera 1. A 6-primary color display 3; and an image converting apparatus 2 for converting a 16-band photographed signal of the multiband camera 1 into a 6-primary color display signal using an input profile of the camera 1, an output profile of the display 3, and a color space conversion profile. The input profile and output profile include information to give a correlation between the color signal and spectrum or spectral reflectance factor, respectively, and the color space conversion profile includes at least one of a color matching function and an illumination spectrum prescribing a reflection spectrum to the spectral reflectance factor.
