PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the inspection equipment and the inspection method of a shadow mask which make generating of dent by an air-gun or handling decrease, and make adhered foreign substance remarkably decrease, in the inspection process of the shadow mask for SST systems with a metal thin board of the comparatively thin thickness. SOLUTION: A foreign substrate removing part 30 is provided in the front part of an inspection stand 20 so that 1 pair 34 of the shower unit may come in a position higher than the height of a stand part 22 of the inspection stand, and a mirror 24 is provided at the rear upper part of the stand part of an inspection stand in the position so that a front worker may be able to inspect the back surface of the shadow mask from the front. By removing the adhered foreign substance while pulling up the shadow mask slowly, the existence of the foreign substance on the back or front surface is inspected without reversing the front and back side of the shadow mask.
